A common problem with the Jeep Cherokee XJ is losing signal to the gauge cluster from the PCM. When this happens, all of the gauge’s needles point to zero, the check engine light (CEL), and the airbag light turn on. A common cause of this problem is the connection between the dash cluster wiring harness and the back of the gauge cluster. These shims were designed to stabilize the connectors and space them up slightly to maintain a better connection with the gauge cluster. The only tool required to install them is a screw driver. After removing the gauge cluster, these shims simply slide into place directly between the dash side harness connector and their existing mounting bracket.
